1.5 oz vodka (the recipe says Russian Standard – we just used Skyy)
3 oz lemonade
NOTE: I didn’t have lemonade, but I did have simple syrup, so I just made some lemonade really fast – hence the lemon and simple syrup in the photo! I made about 4 oz, which turned out to be providential.
Muddle the blackberries. If you don’t have a muddler, get one, because a) you need it for cocktails, b) it’s an awesome name for something, and c) it could really whack someone good if you needed to! Add ice, vodka, and lemonade. Garnish with the remaining blackberry.
Now, YOU WOULD THINK, since I’ve bought blackberries several times this spring, I could have used fresh blackberries. You would be wrong. Our store had zero fresh blackberries. So I got a frozen mixed berry package and picked out the blackberries. This may influence the rating!

As I said, I’m not a big vodka or martini person. When I made this according to the recipe, the vodka taste was a bit strong for me – it was about all I could taste. My husband, who loves martinis, said he could taste the other flavors and gave it a 3. Then I doctored it. I used that last 1 ounce of lemonade, and muddled in 3 more blackberries. And then it was a 4! Even my husband said it was better. Really, with only 1.5 oz of vodka, and the sweet/tart flavor of the lemonade and blackberries, it’s a nice, refreshing drink!
