Y’all, I have an infant. It is absolutely shocking how much time one tiny baby with very few basic needs can take. Scrolling through Pinterest while my baby was sleeping on me, the phrase “two ingredients” captured both my eye and my heart. Two ingredients sounded like something I might be able to manage! And chocolate?? And maybe it’ll even taste good?? I’m on board.
- 1 large egg, yolk and white separated
- 2 ounces semi sweet chocolate, melted
Heat oven to 350°. Separate the egg yolk and the egg white. Using a hand mixer, whisk the egg white until soft peaks form, about 2 minutes.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and the melted chocolate.
Gently fold the whipped egg white into the egg yolk/chocolate mixture.
Pour the batter into a lightly greased ramekin or similar. I used my tiny cast iron pan.
Bake for 20 minutes. The instructions say to cool before eating.
RP Servings: 1
Stars: 2 cooled as per the recipe, 3 while piping hot, 3.5 while piping hot with milk.
This is fine, but not awesome. I can’t fathom why the recipe tells you to let it cool before eating. When it’s cool, it has kind of a weird texture and doesn’t taste awesome. When it’s hot, especially if you eat it hot with milk, you can almost-kind-of forget that you’re not eating something better.
