- 2 ounces of dark rum
- 2 ounces of light rum
- 2 ounces of passion fruit juice
- 1 ounce of orange juice
- 1 half ounce of lime juice
- 1 half ounce of grenadine
Filler a shaker with ice and add lime juice, followed by the remaining ingredients. Shake well and pour the drink into a hurricane glass. Garnish it with an orange peel and a maraschino cherry.
NOTE: Ignore the Cointreau in this photo – I’d read another recipe, and got confused! And as a fun fact reminder – Castillo rum is made by Bacardi. It’s what they bottle when they’ve met the Bacardi quota allotment. But it’s much cheaper!
RATING: 3 stars as written, 4 potential
First of all, my cocktail shaker formed a vacuum, so after I shook it the top stuck. When I finally got it off, half of the drink spilled all over the counter… So this is all that was left! However, it was mixed well, so we feel like this is still how it was supposed to taste.
Hubby: “WOW, that tastes strong!”
Now, our passion fruit juice is unsweetened, so that may be part of it. He added a bit more of both juices and thought it was a 4 – and drank it. 🙂
You definitely want the grenadine for sweetness in this. We didn’t add the cherry or orange peel.
