The other day when I made a Raspberry French 75 for the blog, a whole new world was opened up to me in the form of flavored simple syrups. Their recipe asked me to use a raspberry simple syrup. Since they gave a recipe that didn’t make any sense (not sure how you make simple syrup with no water at all!), I looked for one on my own. I found this recipe, which details how to make a couple of types of simple syrup flavors. Ultimately, I did combine both recipes into something that made sense to me.
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of fresh raspberries
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan, set to high heat.
Stir and boil until all the sugar is dissolved. Strain the mixture and let it cool.
Rating: 5 stars!! This was delicious, and added such a neat element to the drink! It also doesn’t have to just be used as a cocktail ingredient- I think this would be wonderful as a base for a non-alcoholic raspberry lemonade, for example. The other types of simple syrup also looked fun, and made me imagine all types of drinks that I could make with them!
