Alright, so, admittedly, this one is on me.
You just see overnight oats everywhere on Pinterest. And they always looks so pretty and interesting! A perfect, easy breakfast solution. And probably healthy(ish)! Just give them a try, Pinterest seemed to say. You’re gonna love them!
Here’s the thing that all of you knew, and I somehow didn’t connect- overnight oats are just oatmeal. Cold oatmeal, as it happens. I discovered this after eating my first bite of finished overnight oats. And, uh. I don’t like oatmeal.
This should be fun.
- 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
- 1/3 cup plain greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- pinch of sea salt
Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
Pour into a mason jar.
Let sit in the fridge overnight.

Stars: Ugh. I don’t know, man. If you like oatmeal, you’ll probably like it. I thought it tasted fresher and better than actual oatmeal, but it still had that gross slimy consistency that oatmeal has, and it still just tasted like… oats. So. Probably 4 stars if you like oatmeal? 2 stars if you don’t like oatmeal but have to eat it for some reason.
